Business was in his blood. Through it, he brings a smile to others who work and interact with him, which adds up to his motivation. Renuka Vembu in conversation with Vishnu Dusad, CEO and MD, Nucleus Software Business was a part of his life. Born in Nagpur and brought-up in Nagpur, Ajanta village and Aurangabad, before moving on to Delhi to pursue engineering, Vishnu Dusad was the fourth amongst five brothers and a sister. He did his BTech in Textile Technology and MTech in Systems and Management from IIT Delhi. He candidly said, “I opted for this career because I developed a liking for programming and computers, while I was doing my BTech. It was combination of chance and desire because the textile venture that I was planning to get into, did not take off.”
An engaging journey
With over two-and-a-half decades of experience in the IT sector, he has a strong grounding in all aspects of sales, business development, product development and customer service. Dusad started as a freelance trainer for COBOL. Next was a startup by the name International Information Systems that he cofounded along with two friends. Three years later, they founded Nucleus Software and for last 22 years, he has been a part of this exciting journey.
Challenges at regular intervals have been a part of his life. Sustaining the product in its nascent stages, and making Nucleus Software a product company from a services one, is an achievement that he is proud of. Dusad added, “We were a typical software services business and transforming ourselves from regular revenue and high profitability business to a business involving substantial investment and uncertainty of revenue was a huge challenge. However, thanks to the support and encouragement of all my colleagues and the guidance of the Board of Directors, we came out successful.”
In his current role, Dusad is engaged in creating a work culture within the organization that ensures that every individual is learning and growing on an ongoing basis, so that they are able to create a workplace that delivers value to all its stakeholders for decades to come.
His aim is to take Nucleus to the next level of growth and meet their financial targets. They have a blueprint ready to transform Nucleus into a company that learns and consistently delivers value. It is also his endeavor to bring the brand closer to its customers.
