“I believe language is not just a means of communication – it’s a bridge to understanding, trust, and collaboration.”
Meet Aparna Pathak, a Language Coordinator with a deep expertise in Japanese, who has been one of the vital threads connecting Nucleus Software to its esteemed Japanese clientele. Based out of our Pune office and part of the Digital Services Business Unit, Aparna works with the Nozomi Team, translating documents, interpreting conversations, and infusing cultural sensitivity into every interaction with our clients – APLUS, Shinsei Bank, and new prospects in Japan.
Aparna’s journey with Nucleus is as unique as it is enduring. She first joined the organization in 2004 when the Pune center operated under the name Virstra i-Technology Services, a subsidiary focused on Japanese clients. Over the years, despite taking a couple of short personal breaks, she has stayed deeply connected with Nucleus = completing over 9 continuous years with us since 2016.
Before Nucleus, Aparna worked with Zensar Technologies in Pune, handling translation assignments for Fujitsu Software Services. However, the opportunity to work directly with Japanese clients at Virstra drew her in. “What truly motivated me,” she recalls, “was the chance to manage tasks end-to-end – translation, interpretation, and receiving direct feedback from Japanese stakeholders. It was a rich learning curve, and the entry into the fintech space made it even more compelling.”
Evolving Through Every Assignment
From translating technical documents to interpreting high-stakes client meetings, Aparna’s work demands precision and agility. “Interpretation, especially, is the most demanding. You have no luxury of a dictionary or pause – you must think and speak in real-time,” she explains. Coming from an arts and literature background, adapting to fintech terminology was a challenge she embraced fully. Her success is a testament to her adaptability and commitment to continuous learning.
She believes that every word delivered with care reflects in the outcome. “If one strives to do their best, it shows – clients notice, and so does your own sense of satisfaction.”
Professional Impact and Personal Growth
Being among the first translators at Nucleus, Aparna found a sense of ownership in her work early on. The responsibilities nurtured her professional discipline and confidence. On the personal front, Nucleus became her anchor through life’s transitions. “Through many phases, Nucleus has been the one constant. It helped me balance work and life with grace and discipline,” she shares.
For her, work-life balance is not just a principle – it’s a practice. With her family now spread across different time zones, meticulous planning has become second nature. “I make sure no task is left pending at the end of the day. That way, I can give my full attention to family when needed.”
The Nucleus Ethos
When asked what truly defines Nucleus, Aparna answers without hesitation: Integrity. “Whether it’s showcasing our products or communicating with clients, there’s a strong foundation of trust and honesty. That’s not something every company can claim—and it’s something I deeply value here.”
Words of Wisdom for New Joinees
To new members of the Nucleus family, Aparna offers thoughtful advice: “Seek personal growth but also ensure that your contribution – no matter how small – helps the company grow too. Every sincere effort counts.”
A Memory Etched in Time
Among her most memorable experiences was her stint at APLUS client site in Akihabara, Tokyo. There, she truly immersed herself in the intricacies of Japanese corporate culture – something she had only read about in books and manga. “It was the most intense and rewarding phase of learning in my career. I dealt with everything – translation, interpretation, and even corporate training. I pushed my boundaries and emerged stronger.”
