Date:
 30th June, 2016
Venue: Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria

Presentation: Rebooting Retail Lending: How Digital Transformation & Customer Centricity Can Deliver Sustained Growth (11 am- 12 noon)

Motivated by their hunt to capture the growing middle class and accessing the unbanked population, retail banks across west Africa are all set to expand. Despite shrinking net interest margins and increased cost of funding, the financial services sector in Nigeria has outperformed the economy with growth in earnings above the GDP rate. This will continue in 2016 as the financial services industry across west Africa increases its reliance on retail banking for growth in this sector.

With greater emphasis on delivering customer centric products, banks are looking at technology solutions which can help them generate new revenues, make better credit decisions faster, increase operational efficiency while remaining complaint with local regulations. Financial Institutions are focusing on reaching their customers across multiple channels with same set of services across all channels. Mobile banking, for example, in north Nigeria presents a unique opportunity for banks as there are over 40 million adults who remain unbanked due to the conditions in the area. While almost everyone has a mobile phone in North Nigeria, a small percentage of those phones are smartphones, making penetration in mobile banking extremely low.

Increased threat from fintech players are also pressurizing banks and financial institutions to beat competition using the same weapon as fintech players- Technology!

Nucleus Software will be participating at the 3rd Annual West Africa International Retail Banking Dialogue 2016 organized by The Asian Banker to discuss this burning issue. As the Thought Leadership sponsor, we will share insights on the emerging trends in retail banking in west Africa and the role of technology in retail lending transformation in conjunction with the summit’s theme of “Cultivating Innovation in order to Stay Ahead of Industry Disruptors”.
