India has witnessed strong growth in retail lending over the past few years – more than 15% year-on-year. Initiatives focused on financial inclusion and increased digitization, supported by sustained GDP growth and lower interest rates are expected to facilitate continued growth in household debt in India over the next 5-10 years. In this environment, banks and NBFCs have become enormously important to the development of financial services in India.
Banks stand to benefit from increased customer attraction towards the MCLR based loan offerings, growth momentum in consumer retail, improved utilization of industrial capacity, growing consumption demand. The NBFC sector witnessed a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19% over the past few years—comprising 13% of the total credit, which is further expected to reach nearly 18% by 2018–19. The sector has played a particularly important role in extending financial services to new sectors, filling a gap created by the relative absence of traditional players.
However, rising competition from FinTech companies, growing regulatory pressure and ever increasing customer demands are presenting a new set of challenges for the lenders. To compete and win in this new world, they must develop a new set of capabilities, re-define customer experience, radically improve business agility and become truly digital enterprises.
Given this background, Dun & Bradstreet, the world’s leading provider of business information, knowledge and insight, and Nucleus Software, are glad to organize an exclusive industry roundtable discussion for banks and NBFCs with the theme of Driving Innovation in Lending, on 9th August in Delhi.
The roundtable will focus on the following:
